Job description

Oktal Sydac is a world leading developer of Driver Training Simulation Technology for the global rail and transportation sectors. We form part of the Sogeclair group and have a workforce of 200 professionals delivering projects across the UK, Europe, Americas, Asia, and ANZ. Together we work collaboratively to deliver complex integrated software and hardware solutions globally.  We are looking for an experienced Design Drafter/Electrical Technician to support the relationship between our client, our project managers and our workshop to create training simulators that meet the client brief.

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertake electrical design and development activities as part of an engineering project team
  • Undertake electrical systems installations on projects adhering to the Electrical Design.
  • Provide expert technical assistance and mentoring to staff
  • Review the work of staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements
  • Undertake tasks meeting allocated budget and timelines
  • Customer interaction on technical issues as delegated by the Project Manager
  • Assist business development by providing design concepts and cost estimates
  • Ensure technical capabilities, systems, process and facilities for drafting are maintained or improved where required
  • Monitor and advise upon the effectiveness of Sydac's quality systems
  • Assist in assessing the performance of staff that have undertaken activities under their direct supervision
  • Provide support both on-site and remote for installed systems



Profile

  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Auto CAD and in line with Australian Standards
  • Work experience and skills in electrical systems installation based on electrical design drawings
  • MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Sound knowledge of trade and workshop practices
  • Sound knowledge of configuration management
  • Sound knowledge of drawing practices and procedures
  • Ability to perform a range of calculations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Formal training in OH&S policies and practices desirable
  • Ability to effectively communicate and manage expectations with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are required and experience in the rail or transport industry is desirable.
